Asante Kotoko interim coach Prince Yaw Owusu says he is happy after leading the team to an important 2–0 away win against Young Apostles FC.

Kotoko went into the match under pressure after losing 1–0 at home to Hearts of Oak at the Baba Yara Stadium, a defeat that slowed their title hopes.

However, the Porcupine Warriors responded well at the Wenchi Stadium. Goals from Johnson Oppong Owusu and Samba O’Neil earned them a much-needed victory.

After the game, Owusu said the win was special for him and helped boost the team’s confidence.

“It means a lot to me. This is my first win, and it makes people recognise what I can do,” he said.

Owusu admitted there was pressure on both himself and the players after the Hearts of Oak loss.

“Yes, there was pressure. The players felt it themselves. So we spoke to them and asked them to put the pressure behind them and focus on how we wanted to play.

“They listened, and it worked perfectly for us today. Once we scored the two goals, everything became clear in our performance. So we are okay with it,” he added.

The victory moves Asante Kotoko up to fourth place on the league table with 38 points. They will next play Vision FC at the Baba Yara Stadium in Matchday 24 of the Ghana Premier League.
