Hearts of Oak's stop-gasp coach, David Ocloo has given up on their title winning hopes and added their defeat against Medeama SC was a very appaling one.
The Mauves and Yellows showed no mercy as they played with the top spot hunger, to marmalize the 'Phobians' by an emphatic 1-5 at the Ohene Gyan Stadium in an interesting GPL week 31 tie.
Jonathan Sowah scored brace, coupled with the other three from Derrick Fordjour, skipper Kwesi Donsu and fex- Hearts of Oak conjurer Vincent Atinga.
The defeat has seen the twenty-one time champions now drop to the seventh position with 45 points but are still just a point away from the top four.
Reacting to the defeat, Ocloo congratulated Medeama for their dominant display and admitted they outplayed them throughout before adding that, their chances of winning the championship is over.
"It's very embarrassing like you said. We came with a plan today but nothing worked out so congratulations to Medeama, they played well and were very clinical."
"I think we gave them too much time on the ball and space and you do that in football and you get punished. Yeah, our league winning hope is over. In our remaining matches, we will try play well and get a respectable position"
Hearts of Oak will face regional rivals Legon Cities FC in the next round of matches on Saturday, May 27, 2023.
