FC Samartex defender, James Sewornu has disclosed how worried he was, seeing how his former club Hearts of Oak had to struggle before they could earn survival in the just-ended season.

The versatile defender clinched his second Ghana Premier League title with the Timber Giants having played a vital role in achieving this success

He is now a two-time league winner having previously won with Hearts of Oak- who had to win on the final day against Bechem United to escape relegation, in the 2020/21 football season.

Speaking in an interview on Filla TV, the enterprising center-back expressed how worried he was seeing the 'Phobians' in that situation and admitted he would have helped them survive if they had played against them in the final round of matches.

“I felt sorry for them considering their position in the table, it wasn’t good for me, but that’s the reality. If we had been scheduled to play them in the final game, we would have helped them. We would have helped them survive”.

James Sewornu started with Hearts of Oak youth side Auroras before he was subsequently promoted to the senior side but after an impressive season long loan spell with Samartex in the 2022/23 season, he earned himself a permanent stay at the Nsenkyire Sports Complex.
