Hearts of Oak head coach, Aboubakar Ouattara, has praised Karela United’s performance despite their 1-0 defeat in Matchday 11 of the Ghana Premier League.
The Phobians, celebrating their 113th anniversary, extended their winning streak to three matches, continuing their resurgence under the guidance of Ouattara.
Hamza Issah was the match-winner, scoring just three minutes into the game with a clinical finish after receiving a well-timed pass. Hearts’ solid defensive display allowed them to hold onto their narrow advantage and secure the win.
After the match, Ouattara acknowledged Karela United’s challenge, describing the game as difficult.
“It was a tough match. Karela United gave us many problems, but the important thing is we won,” Ouattara stated. “Let’s congratulate Karela because they gave us a good game. They created chances but were unable to capitalize on them.”
The victory lifts Hearts of Oak above archrivals Asante Kotoko, who now sit four places below them in the league standings. The Phobians are just four points behind the league leaders and remain firmly in the hunt for the top spot.
Hearts of Oak will aim to extend their impressive form when they face Nsoatreman in Week 12 of the league.
