Asante Kotoko head coach Karim Zito has revealed that striker Albert Amoah is not assured a starting position at the club, despite his impressive return to action.

The 25-year-old forward rejoined Kotoko on a loan deal from Libyan side Al Ahly Benghazi, which runs until the end of the season. Amoah made an immediate impact over the weekend, finding the net as Kotoko secured a 3-0 victory over Basake Holy Stars at the Baba Yara Stadium.

However, Zito emphasized that past performances would not guarantee Amoah a permanent place in the starting lineup. “I cannot say he [Albert Amoah] will get an automatic place. Training will decide everything. That is why we train,” Zito told reporters.

The Kotoko coach stressed the importance of teamwork and combinations in selecting the best XI. “It’s about understanding and combinations. The players you pair who give you results are the best,” he added.

Amoah will look to maintain his goalscoring form when Kotoko travel to face Heart of Lions in their Week 21 Ghana Premier League clash at the Kpando Sports Stadium.
