Asante Kotoko head coach Karim Zito has boosted morale within the camp after providing a positive update on the club’s injury situation ahead of their Ghana Premier League clash with Dreams FC.
Zito revealed that several injured players are gradually returning to full fitness, strengthening the squad as preparations continue for Sunday’s encounter. He was quick to commend the club’s medical team for their efforts in accelerating the recovery process.
“They are gradually recovering, and that is a plus for both the technical team and the medical team,” Zito told Asante Kotoko TV. “The medical team are doing their best to bring the players back.”
The coach admitted that recent injuries had limited his options on the bench in previous matches but believes the situation is beginning to improve. He also highlighted the opportunity it created for younger players to step up.
“Sometimes you look at the bench and you don’t have the options you want, and that has been our problem lately,” he explained. “But it gave me the chance to use Lawson, and I was impressed with his attitude. He showed no weakness and proved he can play, which is a plus for me.”
Zito added that the improved fitness levels are providing him with greater flexibility as the season progresses.
“When things don’t go well, they can also bring something better,” he said. “It is giving me more options in the team. So far, so good. We are working.”
Asante Kotoko will host Dreams FC on Sunday, December 14, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for 3:00 pm.
