Asante Kotoko head coach Karim Zito has spoken candidly about the factors behind the team’s inconsistent performances in the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season.

The Porcupine Warriors had aimed to close in on league leaders Medeama SC but suffered a series of setbacks, including a weekend loss to Nations FC and a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Heart of Lions at the Kpando Sports Stadium.

These results leave Kotoko in fifth place on the league table with 35 points, trailing Medeama by eight points.

Speaking to Asempa FM, Zito pointed to injuries and other challenges as key reasons for the team’s uneven form.

“There are a lot of factors affecting us. We brought in good players, but some of them suffered injuries,” he explained.
“This is football; sometimes you get it right, and sometimes you don’t. But as a coach, you have to keep learning and improving yourself, no matter the circumstances.”

Despite their struggles in the league, Zito’s attention has now shifted to the FA Cup Round of 16, where Kotoko will face Aduana FC at the Baba Yara Stadium this weekend.

The coach remains determined to guide his team through the challenges, emphasizing growth and learning as essential parts of the season’s journey.
