Asante Kotoko have returned to the top of the Ghana Premier League after emphatic win over Bechem United and coach Abdul Karim Zito has urged their supporters for their support as he believes that will help them win the league.
The Porcupine Warriors were just unstoppable having annihilated the Hunters by an emphatic 6-0 win at the Baba Yara stadium in match-day 16 on Sunday, December 28.
Guinean international Morifing Donzo after a long goal drought produced a brace in the game coupled with four other goals from Samba O’Neil, Hubert Gyau, Johnson Owusu and Kwame Opoku to wrap up the year with an emphatic victory.
Having won their last three matches, the Reds have climbed to the summit of the league table with goal difference as they tied-up with second-place Medeama SC on 30 points.
Having already made it clear that his ultimate target is to win the league, the experience gaffer expressed elation and reaffirmed his target of the season but wants their supporters behind them from now till the end as that will play a huge role in helping clinching the league for the first time since 2022.
“It’s part of the objectives so Im very happy for the boys. My strikers all got the scoresheet and that tells you they have been taking their practice very serious.
“We still can challenge for the title but the supporters should be very patient with us and then keep on supporting us. I’m here because of the league. I don’t go anywhere, from training, Im always home Ao we need their prayers and support.”
Asante Kotoko will return to action with a visit to Swedru to face All Blacks in the final fixture of the first round on January 4, 2026.
