Asante Kotoko coach Prosper Narteh has commended midfielder Richmond Lamptey for securing a spot in the final 27-man Black Stars squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Lamptey, one of the three local players in the selected squad, was praised by Narteh for his game understanding, decision-making ability, and contributions to Asante Kotoko in the Ghana Premier League. Narteh sees Lamptey as a unique talent with the potential to reach greater heights in his career.

Ghana, currently in camp in Kumasi, is set to play a friendly against Namibia on January 8, 2024, before departing for Abidjan. The Black Stars are drawn in Group B for AFCON 2023, alongside Egypt, Cape Verde, and Mozambique.
