Asante Kotoko say they will regroup and come back stronger after Sunday’s 1-0 Super Clash defeat to rivals Hearts of Oak.
The Porcupine Warriors went into the game hoping to bounce back from recent setbacks, following a league loss to Heart of Lions and an FA Cup exit to Aduana FC. They were keen to impress their home fans at the Baba Yara Stadium.
However, Baba Adamu’s first-half header put Hearts of Oak ahead. The visitors later went down to 10 men after Emmanuel Amankwah was sent off for a second yellow card, but Kotoko were unable to find an equaliser.
In a message to supporters after the match, the club admitted the pain of the defeat but assured fans they would respond positively.
“We are hurt, but we will definitely bounce back stronger. Thank you all for your massive support,” the club said.
Kotoko will aim to return to winning ways when they face Young Apostles in Matchday 23 this weekend at the Wenchi Sports Stadium.
