Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare says he is determined to improve and deliver strong performances for Ghana at the 2026 World Cup.

The shot-stopper spoke after another solid display in goal, which helped Hearts of Oak secure a 1-0 win over rivals Asante Kotoko in Sunday’s Super Clash at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Baba Adamu’s first-half header sealed the win for the Phobians, who finished the match with 10 men after Emmanuel Amankwah was sent off.

Asare, who has already impressed in World Cup qualifiers and friendly matches, is keen to carry his form into the tournament to be co-hosted by the USA, Canada and Mexico.

“I hope to continue these performances at the World Cup,” Asare told Asempa FM.

Reflecting on the Super Clash, he added:

“It was a good game against Asante Kotoko, but we were determined to win and take revenge.”

The goalkeeper also played down suggestions that his display was influenced by the presence of Black Stars head coach Otto Addo and the national team technical team.

“Otto Addo and the Black Stars technical team had no hand in my performance yesterday. I was fully focused on delivering for the team, and I only realised after the game that they had come to support me,” he said.

Hearts of Oak will aim to keep their momentum going when they host Berekum Chelsea at the University of Ghana Stadium in Matchday 23 this weekend.
