"The elder has elbows no matter the difficulties and time for necessities" is a precious Akan adage which gives importance and salience to how the "aged" are needed and should be preserved in the never ending surprising society we live in.
In a circumstance where an elders refuse to give accord to society that contained them to be seen as such needs to be brought back to their toes to put things in-situ for the betterment and oneness of society.
Kumasi Asante Kotoko has always aggrandized their status and calibre as the most successful club in Ghana and the Club of the Century in Africa with their hard won achievement toiled over eighty-one years of existence.
As a monarchically owned club by Otumfour Osei Tutu II under the spiritually guidance of the golden stool of the Ashanti Kingdom, Kumasi Asante Kotoko will be given a foul and prejudice mind as to having an alternate reputation of been the most recognized and successful club in Ghana and the Club of the Century in Africa if they truly fulfill their mission of boycotting the President's Cup.
A new format has been designed for the President's Cup this year under the the newly elected Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) leadership of Kodjo Fianoo which the one-off match will not only be played in Accra but will cut across the regional capitals for every region to have a feel of the Republic Day celebration through football.
Kotoko will indeed lock horns with stern rivals Accra Hearts of Oak in Accra but the porcupine warriors are staging a plan boycott of the game or a change of date which is not favorable to the purpose of the President's cup and will defeat the purpose of celebrating the day through football.
In as much as Kotoko will have a piled schedules from 26th June, 2016 till the said match where Kotoko will play three games within that time including the President's cup, it will be demeaning and disregard in monstrous for them to allow this flimsy excuse prevent them from honoring the game.
One has to extend other eyes beyond the scope to concur with Kotoko as they play four games within eight days whilst they to be on the road twice within it but as huge a club like Kotoko as they entangle themselves with, situations of a kind should be favourable even if not welcoming. It will be preposterous on the part of Kotoko not to honor this year's President Cup on the 1st of July.
As to those reasons coming from officials of the club or not, they will hold water should Kotoko abandon the game. Kumasi Asante Kotoko will not be in their tag of been a role model to other clubs in the country who sets to follow and reach that acme Kotoko has attained. It will diminish the "krobea" mantle the team is enshrined with. It is not well for the good name of the club and Manhyia to be in the airwaves and other media houses for not the good reasons.
Otumfour has had enough of blushes from the hoi polloi and it is about time Kumasi Asante Kotoko preserve the good name of the king. It might be refreshing, albeit, for Kotoko as unconfirmed news suggest league matches will be rescheduled on that weekend sake of the President's cup that will tantamount to a false and an unrealised dilly-dallying of the completion of our league or the compressing of the league as there seem to be more breakages in the league in the ensuing future.
