Former Asante Kotoko head coach Maxwell Konadu has advised the club to focus on personality and mental strength, not just tactical ability, as it searches for a new substantive head coach.
Kotoko are currently without a permanent manager following the resignation of Karim Zito, with assistant coach Nana Yaw Owusu serving in an interim role while management works to appoint a long-term replacement.
Speaking on the club’s coaching search, Konadu stressed that handling the pressure and expectations at Kotoko requires strong character in addition to coaching competence.
“It is about who fits the bill. At Kotoko and Hearts of Oak, you need coaches with character to manage the pressure and the fanbase. The club must be patient and choose the right person,” he said.
The Porcupine Warriors currently sit fourth on the Ghana Premier League table with 38 points, seven behind leaders Medeama SC after 23 matches.
