Ghana Premier League round 28 encounter between giants Asante Kotoko and FC Samartex at the Baba Yara Stadium was abandoned after a heavy downpour disrupted proceedings on the dusk of Monday, April 6.
The match had remained goalless when referee Nathan Anafo decided to halt play early in the second half following a pitch inspection.
After testing the surface conditions, the referee, in consultation with both captains, ruled the pitch unplayable due to excessive waterlogging caused by the persistent rain.
The first half had ended without any goals, but it was the Timber Giants who came so close on two occasions Kotoko goalie Aziz Haruna Dari pulling two huge stops to deny Abdul Latif and Agyemim Boateng, with the matter’s effort even hitting the crossbar.
The game is now scheduled to be completed on Tuesday morning, with kickoff set for 9:00 am at the same venue.
