Public Relations Officer of Asante Kotoko Sarfo Duku has confirmed that the Porcupine Warriors are preparing to make key adjustments to their squad ahead of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season, as the club looks to bounce back stronger and sharper.
Kotoko capped off the 2024/25 season in triumphant style, winning the Ghana FA Cup and earning qualification for continental football. They defeated Golden Kick FC, a lower-league team, to seize their 10th FA Cup title at the University of Ghana Stadium.
According to Duku the change is coming and it could be sweeping as no underperforming player will be favored.
“We are going to plan for the African campaign in terms of finances. We will soon effect changes in the team. Players who were unable to meet our expectations will be shown the exit door,” Duku told reporters.
The confirmation has sent shockwaves through the fanbase, with speculation mounting over which players will be shown the exit and who will be brought in to revive the club’s fortunes after an inconsistent 2024/25 campaign.
“In the next few days, some players will leave the club,” Duku added.
On Wednesday, the Ghanaian heavyweights officially presented the 2024/25 FA Cup trophy to the club’s life patron, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. The Asante Kotoko entourage was headed by Nana Apinkrah Akwasi Awuah, Chairman of the Interim Management Committee (IMC), alongside Kwesi Appiah and Malik Jabir, who serves as the club’s technical advisor.
