Ghana Premier League powerhouse Asante Kotoko are preparing to make significant changes to their squad ahead of the 2025/26 football season, following their successful FA Cup campaign.
The Porcupine Warriors ended the 2024/25 season on a high note by clinching their 10th FA Cup title with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over lower-tier side Golden Kick FC at the University of Ghana Stadium. The triumph also secured the club a ticket to represent Ghana in the 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup.
In an interview with the media, Sarfo Duku, the club’s Communication Director, confirmed that a reshuffle is imminent, with underperforming players set to be released in preparation for the new season and the club’s continental campaign.
“We are going to plan for the African campaign in terms of finances. We will soon make changes to the squad. Players who couldn’t meet expectations will be released. In the coming days, some exits will be confirmed,” Duku stated.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, June 18, the team officially presented the FA Cup trophy to the life patron of the club, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.
The Kotoko delegation was led by Nana Apinkrah Akwasi Awuah, Chairman of the Interim Management Committee (IMC), alongside Technical Director Kwesi Appiah and Technical Advisor Malik Jabir.
With a continental campaign on the horizon and expectations high, Kotoko are expected to be active in the transfer market as they aim to build a more competitive squad for both local and international duties.
