Medeama Sporting Club head coach Ibrahim Tanko has admitted that Friday’s 2-1 defeat to Nations FC in the Ghana Premier League was a particularly painful result for his side.

The Mauve and Yellow entered Matchday 21 on the back of a 17-game unbeaten run, only for their streak to be halted at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex.

Medeama took an early lead in the ninth minute through Kingsley Braye, but Nations FC fought back, with captain Razak Simpson scoring twice before halftime to snatch a dramatic comeback victory.

Speaking after the match, Tanko praised his players for their performance but acknowledged the sting of defeat.

“After scoring first, we allowed them to dominate the second balls, and the pressure became overwhelming,” Tanko said. “Losing here is very painful.”

He added: “Sometimes you do everything right, but the result doesn’t go your way. We didn’t play badly, but we lost 2-1. Now we have to regroup, prepare, and focus on the next match.”

Despite the setback, Medeama SC remain top of the Ghana Premier League with 43 points. The team will look to bounce back quickly as they continue their push for another league title.
