The commanding centre-back started and completed the entire contest on Friday, producing a standout performance that proved decisive in a dramatic comeback win.
Medeama took an early lead in the ninth minute, but Simpson inspired Nations FC’s response, scoring twice to overturn the deficit and secure all three points for his side.
Reacting after the match, the skipper admitted the victory meant a great deal, particularly given the team’s recent struggles in the league.
“I’m really happy with the win. I’m overwhelmed,” Simpson said. “This season hasn’t been the same as last season, so I give thanks to God.”
He revealed that belief and composure were key after conceding early. “When we went behind, I told my teammates to stay calm because I knew the game would turn in our favour. We came into this match fully motivated, and I was confident we would win.”
The impressive victory over the league leaders has lifted Nations FC to eighth place in the Ghana Premier League standings, boosting morale ahead of their next assignment.
