Top Manhyia Palace chiefs visited Asante Kotoko at their training grounds at Adako Jachie to encourage the team ahead of Sunday’s clash with Hearts of Oak.

Kotoko confirmed the visit on Thursday, saying the delegation was led by the Manhyia Palace Chief of Staff, Mr Kofi Badu. He was joined by Offinsomanhene Nana Dwamena Akenten II, Bantamahene Baffour Owusu Amankwatia VI, and other traditional leaders.

In a statement, the club said it had welcomed “a distinguished delegation of revered leaders from the Asante Kingdom”, describing the visit as a show of support for the team before the high-profile Matchday 22 fixture.

The visit comes after a tough week for the Porcupine Warriors. Kotoko lost 3–1 to Heart of Lions in the league and were later knocked out of the FA Cup by Aduana FC on penalties at the Baba Yara Stadium.

The FA Cup exit was followed by the resignation of head coach Karim Zito, which adds to the pressure on the team.

Kotoko will now be hoping to respond positively when they face arch-rivals Hearts of Oak in front of their home fans. Sunday’s Super Clash kicks off at 5:00 PM.
