Asante Kotoko attacker Albert Amoah says the team is fully focused and confident of beating rivals Hearts of Oak.

Kotoko host Hearts at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday in the Super Clash which is a Matchday 22 fixture in the Ghana Premier League.

The Porcupine Warriors are coming off a painful FA Cup exit after losing to Aduana FC on penalties in the Round of 16. The defeat was followed by the resignation of head coach Karim Zito.

Kotoko have since appointed Prince Yaw Owusu as interim head coach, with Hamza Obeng as his assistant, as they look to steady the team ahead of the big game.

Speaking to Kessben FM, Amoah played down talk of problems in the dressing room and said the players never wanted Zito to leave.

“No player wanted Karim Zito out before he resigned. Such speculations should be disregarded,” Amoah said.

He added that the squad is now fully focused on Sunday’s clash and sees it as a chance to respond on the pitch.

“We were actually looking forward to using Sunday’s game against Hearts of Oak to make things right, but what happened happened,” he said.
Sunday’s Super Clash kicks off at 17:00 GMT at the Baba Yara Stadium.
