With the aim of enhancing the standard of the Ghana Premier League, headline sponsor, betPawa has introduced financial boost to the eighteen (18) clubs ahead of the 2023/24 season.

President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku on Tuesday, 29 August, 2023 announced the new financial packages to reward the top ten teams of the 2023/23 Ghana Premier League season.

 

Kurt Okraku revealed the exciting initiative to the football ecosystem and stakeholders during the official launch of the Ghanaian top-flight league in Koforidua.

 

He explained that the decision of rewarding the top ten teams in the upcoming season is to enhance the competitiveness of the county's top-tier league.

 

“We believe that by introducing financial rewards for the top 10 teams, we create a positive incentive for clubs to perform at their best and raise the overall quality of our football,” Okraku said during his address to the football ecosystem. 

 

“This initiative aligns with our goal of nurturing a competitive and thrilling league that captures the attention of fans, sponsors, and stakeholders.”

 

The winner of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League will receive a prize money of Gh¢ 500,000 ($44,000) while the first runner-up and second runner-up will be receiving Gh¢ 200,000 and Gh¢ 100,000 respectively.

 

Last season's champions, Medeama SC received Gh¢ 300,000 for clinching their first-ever Ghana Premier League while Bechem United received Gh¢ 100,000 for finishing second at the end of the season.
