Match Week 2 of the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League kicked off as scheduled. On Saturday, Accra Lions picked up their first win of the PL season in their second game on the road as they edged visiting Nzema Anyinase-based side Karela United by 2 goals to 1 in a thrilling game that yielded 3 goals of the young season at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Two goals in the opening 26 minutes righted the season for Lions as they held on for a 2-1 victory over a resilient Karela United side.
Lions took the lead in the 24th minute - courtesy of a well rounded goal by Samuel Gyimah, bundling the ball into the net of goalie Felix Kyei for the opening goal.

Young forward Daniel Kwame Awuni doubled the lead for the home side shortly after 2 minutes (26th), striking home from a well taken midfield play that the Karela defence and goalie had no answer for.
Lions once again dominated play after recess, but substitute Enoch Agblenyo pulled a goal back in the 60th minute for the Pride and Passion lads.
Both sides failed to capitalize on the scoring chances that came their way, with Accra Lions captain and danger man Dominic Nsobila failing to seize on the chance for couple of goals as he chipped wide on countless occasions.
