Berekum Chelsea salvaged a point at the Akoon Park against Samartex FC to maintain an unbeaten streak in the ongoing Ghana Premier League season.
FC Samartex 1996 failed to secure their first-ever topflight league win after a 1-1 stalemate with Berekum Chelsea in the match-week two of the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League on Monday afternoon.
FC Samartex's first home game was played at the Akoon Park in Tarkwa following the ongoing renovations at their home venue, Nsenkyire Park.
The ‘Biribes’ lads started the fixture on a good note as they piled up pressure on the backline of FC Samartex to open the score in the early minutes.
On the 10th minute, Youngster Emmanuel Kofi Essien snatched the lead for Berekum Chelsea with a fine strike which saw goalkeeper Richard Baidoo crawling in the post.
FC Samartex warmed themselves into the match to respond to the score through Seidu Abubakar on the 21st minute of the game.
The last fifteen minutes of the game looked balanced as both sides possessed the ball in the middle with few chances created but it went futile.
The first half ended in a one-all draw at the Akoon Park in Tarkwa.
Berekum Chelsea were robust at the back after FC Samartex had gained possession to dominate the second half of the game.
Both teams had goal glaring opportunities to grab the match-winner but their efforts went off target while others were fisted out by both goalkeepers.
Following the 1-1 draw, Berekum Chelsea and FC Samartex are both unbeaten in the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League season after match-week two.
