It was a day of rebounding at the nations Wembley for Accra Lions. The hosts shot themselves in the foot as they took the lead against Heart of Lions after twelve minutes with Ali Mohammed getting the ‘Yennyinaa Dea’ boys off to a dream start by scoring his second goal of the season.
17-year-old forward Daniel Awuni doubled Accra Lions lead twenty two minutes later with his first of the campaign.
Coming into the game, Ibrahim Tanko’s men had won just one match and had scored six goals in the ongoing 2023-24 Ghana Premier League campaign.
However, Christian Agyenim Boateng wriggled free to hit one back at the 77th minute mark but it wasn’t enough as Accra Lions secured their second Premier League road win.
Although, it was a deserved win for the home side. It was a performance that should make both teams sit up and start nestling-in the goals to snatch vital victories in their subsequent games.
Accra Lions are now out of the relegation zone (14th with 9 points) and will hope to climb up the table a little bit over the next couple of weeks. On the other hand, Heart of Lions are rocking bottom on six points with them scheduled to honor their match-week 5 outstanding match against Hearts of Oak on Wednesday, November 8, 2023.
