Accra Lions presented a significant challenge to Medeama SC during their clash in the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season on Wednesday.
The match concluded with both teams securing a point each following an exciting 2-2 draw. In this Round 1 encounter of the new league season, the defending champions hosted Accra Lions.
Although Medeama SC started the game strongly, Accra Lions displayed remarkable resilience and quickly turned the tide in their favor. In the 18th minute, the visitors executed an impressive team move that resulted in Samuel Gyimah finding the back of Medeama SC's net, giving Accra Lions the lead.
Despite trailing at halftime, the hosts refused to give up and put on an impressive performance in the second half. Parity was restored to the match in the 56th minute when newly-signed Daniel Lomotey scored with a splendid effort to make it 1-1.
As the game intensified between the two sides, goals from Ali Mohammed and Jonathan Sowah canceled each other out, ultimately resulting in a 2-2 draw when the final whistle blew.
