Asante Kotoko secure hard fought 0-1 away over Medeama SC at the Akoon Park, thanks to Nicholas Mensah's brilliant second half strike.
The Porcupine Warriors early free kick was poorly taken by Augustine Agyapong and signifies Kotoko's explosive start to the game
Medeama SC responded quickly, also with a dangerous free kick on the 13th minute which was taken by Suleman Fatawu but was blocked for a wasted corner kick.
The host from then took the game under their total control and made series of goal attempts but couldn't make it count.
Kotoko with a huge chance on the 44th minute but Steven Mukwala's effort went wide for a restart. That was a chance!
In the second half, the even exchanges from both teams continued with lots of attacks but finding the back of the net was always tough!
Finally, the visitors got what they have been hunting for on the 59th minute.
Nicholas Mensah got the best of Fatawu Suleman and penetrated his way through the box and struck at the back of the net to snatch the lead for the travellers.
The Mauves and Yellows broke on a counter, Moro Mukhtar did well to race into the opposition area but a brilliant slide tackle from Yussif Mubarik resulted in a wasted corner kick.
Kotoko had to end the game with ten men after Ivorian import Serge Zeze was shown the exit door after a second yellow card on the 87th minute. it ended 0-1 for Kotoko after full time.
Coach Seydou Zerbo's men have now jumped to the top of the league with 13 points and a win for Aduana Stars and Accra Lions will revert them back to the previous spot.
