Kotoku Royals have given some glimpses of survival hopes after humbling King Faisal FC by 4-2 at the Theater of Dreams Park in the opening fixture of GPL match-week 23 on Friday, March 24, 2023.

 

The 'Insha Allah' lads made the first goal attempt in just five minutes from the blast of the whistle, Baba Yahaya made a great serging run to hit strongly but went wide for a goalkick.

The host took the lead just seven minutes after through Andy Kumi Francis who nipped on a clanger from goalkeeper Benjamin Asiedu to slot home.
 
Benjamin Bature was played through with a fine pass to get the visitors back on level terms but couldn't make it count.
 
On the 40th minute, Kotoku Royals scored again to double their lead through Augustine Boakye.
 
The homesters were still running riots after scoring again in just three minutes time through Richard Dzikoe to make it 3-0.
 
In the second half, King Faisal came back so well and mounted so much pressure in the opening minutes which eventually got them a goal on the 63rd minute through Godfred Asiamah to reduce the deficit. 
 
Just two minutes after, Paul Abanga scored with a spectacular free kick to restore back the Royal's three goal lead.
 
Inside the 86th minute, King Faisal were awarded a penalty and was converted neatly by Abdul Latif to make it 4-2 and that's how it finished.
 
Kotoku Royals despite the win are still lying at the bottom of the league with 20 points whiles King Faisal recent four game unbeaten run shuttered.
