Medeama SC have finally emerged conquerors of the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League after inflicting an emphatic 3-0 over Tamale City in the final fixture of the campaign in front of a fully packed Akoon Park.
Heading into the game, the homesters only had to avoid a defeat to finally have their hands on the ultimate and that's exactly what the two time FA Cup champions did.
Coach Evans Adotey had the playing body led by skipper Kwesi Donsu for this game which is coronation one despite having to avoid a defeat. Felix Kyei started in goal, Vincent Atinga, Jonathan Sowah, Derrick Fordjour all got included as they look to climax the season on a higher note.
On the other side, Tamale City- who are also battling for survival named a good line up with Cisse Tijani in post. Justice Mensah, Issah Nyaabila, Kamaradini Mahamudu, club top scorer Sampson Eduku all made the cut.
The people of Tarkwa with hours to the commencement of the game had already been seen on the streets in huge numbers heading to the stadium to rally behind the club.
The homesters had an explosive start to the game especially having lots of voices and chants behind them and gingered them to open the scoring account in just six minutes from kickoff through Joshua Agyemang.
Tamale City from going down, knew it doesn't look good if it stays like that and threw in more men upfront after settling down in the game but couldn't find the back of the net.
In the second half, Medeama SC despite returning stronger still had their defence solid and resolute as they look to preserve their lead.
However, a twist in few moments later as they threw in more men forward to double their lead on the 66th minute, kind courtesy a towering header from Jonathan Sowah.
Twelve minutes later, Sowah once again found the back of the net to mark his brace and Medeama's third in the game.
After full time, Medeama SC are the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League champions with 60 points and that's the first time they are winning the Championship.
Congratulations to the Mauves and Yellows.
