Karela United ended their 2022/23 Ghana Premier League in a fashion after recording a five-goal thriller win over already relegated club Kotoku Royals in the final round of matches on Sunday afternoon.

Kotoku Royals bid a goodbye to the Ghana Premier League after suffering a 3-2 home defeat to Karela United at the Theater of Dreams in Dawu.

 
Karela United started the game on a good note by opening the floodgate in the early minutes through Emmanuel Owusu Boakye on the 2nd minute of the game.
 
Owusu Boakye capitalized on the early defensive blunder from the Kotoku Royals back line to struck Augustine Randolf's delightful curling low-cross past goalkeeper Ferdinand Sabi Acquah.
 
On the 20th minute, Abdul Karim Ayeh doubled the lead for Karela United with a fine strike after an intense pressure mounted on Kotoku Royals.
 
Coach Eguafo's side were forced to make an early substitution after burly striker Augustine Boakye sustained an injury, who was later replaced by Clinton Kumi on the 35th minute.
 
Kotoku Royals failed to make any incursion to at least pull one back before the break as it ended in a 2-0 win for the Aiyinase based club.
 
In the second half, Karela United extended their lead to 3-0 through a fine strike from two-goal hero Emmanuel Owusu Boakye on the 46th minute.
 
Defender Richard Mensah reduced the deficit for Kotoku Royals with a cool finish on the 60th minute before Andy Kumi made it 3-2 on the 92nd minute of the game.
 
Following the victory, Karela United ended their 2022/23 season's campaign with 47 points to occupy seventh position while Kotoku Royals suffer demotion after finishing at the bottom with just 26 points.
