In a notable representation, Medeama Sporting Club leads the Ghana Premier League clubs in the Black Stars' provisional squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
A total of five players from the Mauve and Yellow outfit have earned spots in the 55-man provisional squad submitted to CAF by Head Coach Chris Hughton.
Among the featured Medeama SC players are striker Jonathan Sowah, goalkeeper Felix Kyei, Derrick Fordjour, Abdulai Nurudeen, and Hamidu Fataw Nurudeen. Hughton's selection spans across various Ghana Premier League teams, with Dreams FC, Asante Kotoko, and Great Olympics also contributing to the squad.
Notable additions from other clubs include Richmond Lamptey (Asante Kotoko), John Antwi, and Godfred Atuahene (Dreams FC), as well as Emmanuel Antwi, Benjamin Asare (Great Olympics), and Razak Simpson (Nations FC).
As the squad is provisional, Hughton has until January 3 to finalize the list, reducing it to the final 27-man squad for the 2023 AFCON.
The tournament is scheduled to commence in Ivory Coast on January 13, showcasing a diverse blend of talent from across the Ghanaian football landscape.
