Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton has named eleven Ghana Premier League stars in his 55-man provisional squad list submitted for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
All the twenty-four (24) participating nations officially submitted a list of fifty-five (55) players to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for the continental showpiece scheduled to be staged in Ivory Coast early next year.
Ghana's list was dominated by players plying trade abroad including MLS Cup winner Yaw Yeboah and West Bromwich Albion star Brandon Thomas-Asante.
Also, PFC Ludogorets Razgrad attacker Bernard Tekpetey earned a spot in the provisional squad and he could make a come back to the team for his second Africa Cup of Nations appearance.
The locally based players who earned a place in the team's list included Accra Great Olympics top marksman Emmanuel Antwi and goalkeeper Benjamin Asare, who has kept seven clean sheets in the ongoing Ghana Premier League season.
Five players from Medeama SC namely Jonathan Sowah, Nurudeen Abdulai, Derrick Fordjour, Fatawu Hamidu Abdul and Felix Kyei made the shortlisted following their exploits in the CAF Champions League.
Highly-rated midfielder, Richmond Lamptey of Asante Kotoko was named alongside Nations FC defender Razak Simpson.
Dreams FC experienced striker John Antwi made the list with his teammate Godfred Atuahene.
Ghana will be in Ivory Coast with the hopes of ending their trophy drought since 1982 of clinching its fourth AFCON title.
Ghana have been housed in Group B to battle it out with Cape Verde, Mozambique, and Egypt for the tournament slated for January to February 2024.
