Medeama SC Chief Executive Officer, James Essilfie, says the club are determined to build a footballing identity inspired by Barcelona’s entertaining and tactical brand of play as part of their long-term development plan.

Speaking on WestGold Radio in Takoradi, Essilfie outlined a vision that extends beyond results, stressing the importance of combining aesthetic football with sustained competitiveness.

“Our aim is to play like Barcelona, beautiful football that entertains our supporters and brings good results at the same time,” Essilfie said.

He added that the Mauve and Yellow are working towards creating a philosophy rooted in tactical discipline, technical precision and team cohesion — an approach he believes will earn Medeama admiration both locally and on the continental stage.

“Beyond winning trophies, we want to build a brand of football that excites fans and reflects our identity,” he explained.

Under Essilfie’s leadership, Medeama have grown into one of Ghana’s most consistent sides. The 2022–23 Ghana Premier League champions are currently second in the ongoing campaign after nine rounds, just a point behind the leaders.

With their commitment to a distinct playing style and continued investment in player development, Medeama appear intent on redefining Ghanaian club football and setting a new benchmark for how the domestic game is played and perceived.
