Head coach of Medeama SC, Ibrahim Tanko has warned that defending their Ghana Premier League title will be a tough challenge as competition gets tougher in the 2026/27 season.
The Yellow and Mauves won their second league title at the end of the 2025/26 season, with Tanko playing an important role in helping the team win the championship.
Medeama have also made a strong start to their title defence, picking up eight points from their opening four matches to move to the top of the league table.
However, Tanko knows the pressure will increase as other teams try to stop Medeama from defending their title.
The Medeama boss believes every team has prepared well for the new season, while his side must deal with the added pressure that comes with being the defending champions.
"It's not going to be easy this season because all the teams are prepared; we are the defending champions, so definitely we are trying to maintain it," Ibrahim Tanko told journalists after Medeama's 1-0 win over Port City on Tuesday.
Medeama will now aim to keep up their good start to the season as they try to defend their Ghana Premier League title.
