Mohammed Gargo, a former Ghanaian international has insisted that being a top player in the Ghana Premier League (GPL) doesn't automatically qualify you to be handed a call-up to the Black Stars.

Gargo was making a remark about Chris Hughton handing a call-up to Holstein Kiel's Kwasi Okyere Wriedt over Abednego Tetteh - who currently leads the goal scorer's chart in the domestic league that has caught the eye of football enthusiasts thanks to the wonderful job he's doing with Bibiani Goldstars.

Speaking with Radio Gold ahead of Ghana's Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Madagascar on June 18, the former Nsoatreman FC coach said; "Local scene is not like the international scene and wearing the national team jersey is not easy at all.

“It’s not every player that is good on the local level at the same time can be good at the national level.

“It takes a lot of commitment, one player cannot change the Black Stars.”
