Nations FC head coach Kasim Ocansey Mingle has made his intentions clear ahead of the final stretch of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season — his goal is to win the title, and he believes the club has what it takes to go all the way.
Speaking in an interview with Akoma 87.9 FM, the experienced gaffer emphasized the club’s unwavering ambition and contrasted it with his previous stint at Bechem United.
“I worked at Bechem, and we came near several times, but they [Bechem United] were not interested in winning the league,” Mingle revealed. “However, here [at Nations FC], they are interested, and they want to go for the ultimate, so I am also prepared.”
Currently leading the league standings with just two games remaining, Nations FC are in pole position to clinch the title in only their debut season in the top flight. But Mingle remains cautious, urging focus and consistency as the title race remains open.
“We will not allow complacency to creep into our team,” he stressed. “We will focus and compete until the last game to prove that we are actually champions.”
Mingle added that the team is taking a game-by-game approach as they gear up for their final fixtures against Basake Holy Stars and Heart of Lions.
“The race is still open, and we are focused on whatever we are doing,” he said. “We have been psyching the players whenever there is a game, and we are taking the remaining matches one after the other — first on Basake and then on Heart of Lions.”
Under his leadership, Nations FC have exceeded expectations this season with an impressive run of form, and Mingle believes the players are mentally prepared to handle the pressure that comes with being league leaders.
Victory in their next match could bring them one step closer to a historic title triumph — a feat that would mark a remarkable rise for a club only recently promoted to the Ghanaian top tier.
