The family of the late Asante Kotoko supporter, Francis "Nana Pooley" Frimpong, has stirred controversy after revealing that he was not the biological father of four out of the six children he left behind.
In a recent interview, the family urged Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to limit the lifetime scholarship he pledged to only Pooley’s two biological children.
They argued that the fathers of the remaining four children are alive and should take responsibility for their upbringing.
Family Clarifies Pooley’s Paternal Role
Speaking on behalf of the family, Nana Pooley’s biological aunt explained the circumstances surrounding his children.
“Gifty already had four children before she met Pooley. Because of Pooley’s new relationship with Gifty, Ann, who had two children with him, left Ghana for Côte d’Ivoire. Unfortunately, she later passed away after a battle with illness,” she stated.
The family's plea comes after Otumfuo Osei Tutu II announced a scholarship package for all six children following Pooley’s tragic death at Nsoatreman FC’s home ground.
