Assistant coach of Nations FC, Johnson Smith, has reaffirmed the club’s determination to win the Ghana Premier League title in the 2025/26 season.

The Abrankese-based side came close to glory last season but narrowly missed out, with Bibiani Gold Stars making history by clinching their maiden league crown.

Nations FC ended the 2024/25 campaign with 60 points, initially placing second, but a three-point deduction from their abandoned Week 33 fixture against Basake Holy Stars saw them slip to fifth, missing out on a Top Four finish.

Despite the setback, Johnson Smith, who previously served as assistant coach at Asante Kotoko, insists the team is more motivated than ever to challenge for the title.

“No club wants to finish at the bottom of the league. Just like every ambitious team, Nations FC will fight to be at the top next season,” he told Kessben FM.

Since their promotion to the Ghana Premier League two seasons ago, Nations FC have impressed with steady progress. They finished seventh in their debut campaign before securing a fifth-place finish last season.

With a blend of youthful talent and experienced campaigners, the club is aiming to build on its growth and mount a serious title challenge in the new season.
