Asante Kotoko will face Division One side Future Stars FC in the Round of 64 of the MTN FA Cup without their in-form winger Wisdom Bassey Fernando.
The Nigerian forward, who impressed in his first start of the season during Kotoko's 2-0 away victory against Aduana Stars last Sunday, suffered an injury during training on Wednesday.
Fernando was forced to leave the session early, and club medical staff later confirmed he has a contusion in his left hamstring. The injury is expected to sideline him for about a week, ruling him out of Sunday’s clash.
Despite Fernando’s absence, Coach Prosper Narteh Ogum and his squad will aim to start their campaign strongly as they chase a record-extending 10th FA Cup title.
Kotoko’s encounter with the local side from Kwamo presents the first hurdle in their quest for the prestigious domestic trophy, which they last won in 2017.
