Following the decision made during the 29th congress session of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) at KNUST Great Hall, AshantiGold SC has officially been suspended from the association.
The motion for suspension was raised by Ameenu Shardow, the administrative manager of Dreams FC. After a vote, 67 members voted in favor of the suspension, while 17 voted against it.
The decision to suspend AshantiGold SC was made by the GFA's Executive Council last year under Article 17(1) of the GFA Statutes, and it has been upheld by the congress.
The suspension stems from AshantiGold's association with banned officials Kwaku Frimpong and Emmanuel Frimpong, which constitutes a serious violation of both the GFA Statutes and the FIFA Statutes.
Kwaku Frimpong and Emmanuel Frimpong were individually handed bans of 10 years and 8 years, respectively, by the GFA Disciplinary Committee for their involvement in match manipulation. Additionally, AshantiGold SC faced demotion from the top division to the third-tier due to their role in match manipulations.
As a result of the suspension, AshantiGold SC is prohibited from participating in any activities organized by the Ghana FA, including competitions and other football-related engagements.
