GFA President Kurt Okraku has announced a financial incentive for clubs to establish youth teams during his speech at the GFA 29th Ordinary Congress.
Each Ghana Premier League club will receive an amount of GHC 50,000 to support the establishment of their youth team.
Okraku also revealed that clubs will receive an additional GHC 25,000 if two of their youth team players feature in more than 15 games. This incentive aims to encourage clubs to provide opportunities for young players and prioritize their development within the club structure.
“Each Ghana Premier League club is to be supported with GHC 50,000 for setting up a youth team," the GFA boss said.
"Clubs would also get GHC 25,000 when two of their youth players team players feature in more than 15 games,” he added.
The GFA's financial support for youth team establishment and player development demonstrates their commitment to nurturing young talent and strengthening the grassroots football system in Ghana.
Kurt Okraku's first term as GFA President is coming to an end in October, and he is expected to seek re-election. He will likely face competition from individuals such as George Afriyie, former Vice President of the GFA, Kojo Yankah, former Regional Football Association (RFA) for Western Region, and Bernard Amofah Jantuah of Berekum Chelsea.
The elections are scheduled to take place in October later this year, and it will be an opportunity for GFA members to decide the leadership of the association for the next term.
