The tough-tackling rearguard has swapped the Golden City Park outfit for the Baba Yara Stadium campaigners in this current transfer window

Ex-Ghana U23 defender Zackaria Fuseini has joined Asante Kotoko from Berekum Chelsea on a three-year contract, the club have confirmed.

The 27-year-old centre-back has finally sealed his much anticipated transfer move to the Ghanaian powerhouse following months of speculation over his future with his former employers.

An official statement over the signing of the hard-tackling defender read: ''Asante Kotoko are pleased to announce the signing of central defender Zackaria Fuseini on a three-year deal.

''The 27-year-old joins from Berekum Chelsea, where he made his debut as a teenager and went on to register 133 appearances. A former Black Meteors defender, Fuseini also had a brief stint with San Fernando CD in Spain, gaining valuable experience abroad.''

''A calm and composed centre-back, he is known for his sharp reading of the game and strong leadership. As captain of Berekum Chelsea, he arrives in Kumasi with a wealth of experience and a proven track record in Ghanaian football.''

Fuseini has spoken to the club's official website after sealing his transfer move this summer: ''I’m honoured to be joining Asante Kotoko,” said Fuseini. "I believe this is the platform I’ve always hoped for to catapult my career to the next level." My focus is to win laurels with the club and to work hard for a place in the Black Stars, because I know I’m good enough. Some say this move is a few years late, but I don’t believe that. I’m arriving mature and experienced, and I’m ready to handle the pressure that comes with playing for such a big club.”

He figured in 32 games for Berekum Chelsea across all competitions in the just ended 2024-25 football season.

The capturing of the 27-year-old guardsman by the Fabulous club will serve as a marquee signing as they prepare to wrestle the domestic title and making a great impact in the CAF Confederation Cup contest next season.
