Stop-gap coah of Kumasi Asante Kotoko,Michael Osei, says his side defeat in the MTN FA Cup quarter-final clash against Bechem United is painful and disheartened.
Kotoko were stunned at their own backyard as they suffered elimination in the cup competition, after losing to the Hunters on a 2-3 penalty shootout, following a pulsating 1-1 scoreline in the entire game duration including extra time.
Michael Osei could not come to terms with the defeat his side suffered and had this to tell pressmen; "We lost the game in a very painful manner as we prepared very well. This was an opportunity for us to have progressed to the next stage of the competition. We couldn't utilize our chances very well and that's football game for you,"Osei said after the game.
The fomer New Edubiase gaffer was left fuming on his centre-backs as he thought the errors they committed in the game was unacceptable especially with their offside trap settings.
"I think the first goal we conceded in the game wasn't acceptable due to some errors committed at the back.Frankly speaking,I wasn't happy about the central defense of my team as they committed a lot of mistakes especially the way they set their offside traps," he fumed.
The humble tactician admitted that, the early goal they conceded in the game had a negative effect on their game plans and that forced them to become vociferous in searching for the early equalizer leading them to rush in the game.
He added that, he had to advise his charges during the recess to calm down and push for the needed equalizer as they continued with their dominance in the game.
"To be honest, the early first goal cost us a lot and that made us to rush in the game.As you could see,we were anxiously searching for the equalizer at all cost.I finally advised my players to calm down during the half time .We needed to keep our composure as we were on top of the game in both halves within regulation time.Is rather unfortunate that we missed our spot kick that could have sent us to the next stage of the competition," the soft spoken manager admitted.
