Asante Kotoko head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum has attributed his side’s crucial 1-0 victory over Aduana Stars at the Nana Agyemang Badu II Park on Sunday to the team’s self-belief and mental strength.

In what was a challenging fixture at one of the league's toughest venues, Ogum downplayed the influence of tactical adjustments and instead praised his players’ determination and composure for securing the vital three points.

“It’s about self-confidence, it’s about determination," Ogum said after the match. "Playing in Dormaa has nothing to do with tactics—it’s about the confidence of the team, the determination of the team, the aggression of the team, and, most importantly, the calmness of the team.”

The coach noted that maintaining composure was essential, especially in an environment as hostile as Dormaa. He explained that meeting aggression with aggression could have worked against them.

“If you look at the way we played, we were very calm because I know the venue to be an aggressive one, and if you come aggressively, it wouldn’t help," Ogum added.

The victory marked an end to Kotoko’s four-game winless streak in the Ghana Premier League and gave the Porcupine Warriors a much-needed morale boost.

With renewed confidence, Ogum’s side will aim to build on this momentum as they look to climb the league standings and make a strong push for the title this season.
