Head coach of Asante Kotoko, Samuel Boadu has lauded the performance of his players following their precious victory over the weekend which is gradually edging them closer to the league title.
The Porcupine Warriors resoundingly, defeated Medeama SC by 2-0 at the Akoon Park last Sunday in match-week 31 of the Ghanaian topflight.
Stalwart defender Andrews Appau opened the scoring account inside the 23rd minute with a towering header before Cameroonian Franck Mbella scored another classic goal just on the stroke of half time to seal the win and mark his 20th of the season.
The win has sent the 'Kum Apem' lads to 59 points currently on the league log, and have now opened a lead of nine despite having another outstanding game to spare.
Speaking during the post-match presser, the Educationalist has stated his players played with character and their hearts out to help seal this sweet victory and are now just a win away from winning their 25th league trophy. He said;
"They showed a strong mental character today, the game was played mentally, if you look at how we kept our shape defensively and offensively it was amazing," Narteh Ogum said after the game.
"Discipline was part too, we played the entire second half with a man down so if all it was down to discipline and application of knowledge."
Asante Kotoko will travel to Great Olympics in the next round of matches.
