Emmanuel Boakye's 83rd minute strike propels Karela United to hold Hearts of Oak to a 1-1 stalemate at the Ohene Gyan Stadium in the last fixture of match-week 31 of the Ghana Premier League.
The 'Phobians' with their first chance of the game after Suraj Seidu strongly bullied Kelvin Andoh to get in control of the ball but his cross in search for early goal was saved by goalkeeper Felix Kyei.
Quick response from the visitors who also retaliated with a counter break but a timely clearance from Caleb Amankwah halted their danger.
On the 16th minute, Sulley Muntari at his age, managed to race back as quick as possible to stop another counter from Karela and received applauds from the fans afterwards.
On the 30th minute, the visitors had two straight corner kicks in search for the opener but couldn't make it count as it resulted into a wasted one.
The homesters finally broke the deadlock just on the stroke of half time after Benjamin York turned nicely and scored with a powerful hit to give his side the lead.
Back from recess, Hearts of Oak started on a higher note and nearly doubled their lead after Gladson Awako was given a glorious opportunity but failed to plot it at the back of the net.
The 'Phobians' continued to mount so much pressure in search for the second. Sulley locates Benjamin York with a nice pass in the box but his effort was subsequently blocked timely by Kwadwo Addai. That was heading towards goal.
Karela United didn't look any better in the second half but did the needful on the 83rd minute after Emmanuel Boakye scored to get them back on level terms.
It ended one all after full time. Hearts of fail to reclaim third spot.
