Accra Hearts of Oak attacker Daniel Afriyie Barnie has refused to extend his contract with the club which is expected to expire by December, 2022, according to reports in the media.

The Ghanaian international has been an albatross on the necks of the club in extending his contract with viral reportage indicating the players willingness to move abroad after December.

Daniel Afriyie Barnie moved to the Accra-based side three seasons ago after a failed trials with bitter rivals Asante Kotoko and has since been an integral figure in the "Rainbow" club.

A Board Member of the club recently indicated that the club is discussing a possible contract extension, however, it looks likely the former Black Satellites captain will not honour that wants by the club.

Daniel Afriyie Barnie has been the only player to hoist the Ghana Premier League flag in the Black Stars of recent past having seen a minute in Ghana's friendly against Nicaragua in Spain which has increased him in value for which Hearts of Oak could cash on in the future should he extend his contract with the club.

We can report that Daniel Afriyie Barnie will be the highest paid player in the Ghana Premier League if the contract extension goes through.

Hearts of Oak are off to Mali to take on Real Bamako in the second round of the CAF Confederations Cup with Daniel Afriyie Barnie's prominently featuring in it under new coach David Dickson Marvin Ocloo.
