According to exclusive reports in the local media, Asante Kotoko are struggling to convince mercurial midfielder Richmond Lamptey extend his contract which is due for expiration in the next few months.

The 26-year-old has been sensational since joining the Porcupine Warriors in 2021 and played an instrumental role in helping them win the Ghana Premier League in the 2021/22 season.

In the ongoing campaign, the enterprising midfielder has continued with his explosive performances despite facing injuries at the start of the season and currently has five assists in twelve league appearances.

His stupendous display earned him a spot in the Black Stars final squad recently for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations which is still ongoing in Cote D'Ivoire- a tourney Ghana got evicted in the first round.

Speculations has it that, Lamptey has only four months left in his contract with the Reds- who are pushing so hard to get him extend but the player is very reluctant and adamant on that.

Other reports are that, two topflight Libyan clubs Al Ta'awon and Al Nasr Benghazi have all shown strong interest in the ex- WAFA and Inter Allies midfielder
