Ghana Football Association (GFA) spokesperson, Henry Asante Twum has spoken frankly about the anticipated Ghana Premier League following its suspension.

The Ghana Premier League was suspended following clashes between players, officials, and fans of Nsoatreman FC and Asante Kotoko on Sunday.

According to a statement from the GFA, the decision is “aimed at creating space for the GFA to engage with relevant stakeholders and discuss the ramifications of the violence”.

It noted that the postponement will allow the Association to assess the situation, consult with stakeholders and develop strategies to prevent similar incidents in future.

However, speaking to Max FM, Henry Asante Twum failed to give a specific date the GPL will resume, stating the GFA remains uncertain at this moment in time.

"For now, the resumption of the Premier League is unknown. The FA has decided to hold onto the competition until further notice.

“At this point, the other competitions have not recorded any incident. Nothing has happened in the other leagues. And then also, you don't have to forget there's always the calendar to follow," he concluded.
