Bismark Kobi-Mensah, the assistant coach of the Black Galaxies, has expressed his belief that Asante Kotoko midfielder, Richmond Lamptey, is capable of playing for the current Black Stars set-up.
For Ghana's 2023 Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] qualifiers against Angola, Chris Hughton's 25-man squad does not include any local players.
The decision to exclude local players has received criticism from many football enthusiasts in the country.
However, the head trainer of Great Olympics believes that some local players possess the necessary skills and talent to be included in the current team. Kobi-Mensah stated that Richmond Lamptey of Asante Kotoko should be selected for the team due to his exceptional brilliance and technical ability to read the game.
Kobi-Mensah told Kumasi-based Pure FM, "I can tell you that most of the local players are better than some of the foreign players and there are a lot of them. Asante Kotoko midfielder, Richmond Lamptey, for me is one of the best midfielders in the country because he covers a lot of distance and he is technically good."
Ghana will face Angola at the Baba Yara Stadium on March 23 and then travel to Luanda for the return leg in four days' time.
