Ghana Premier League powerhouse Asante Kotoko SC have confirmed, with profound sadness, the death of the mother of their captain, Samba O’Neil Ndongani.

In an official statement, the club conveyed its deepest sympathies to the Congolese defender and his family, assuring them of their unwavering support and prayers during this period of mourning.

Since arriving in Ghana in 2024 from Rahimo FC, O’Neil has become a central figure for the Porcupine Warriors. His leadership qualities and consistency at the back earned him the captain’s armband, making him one of the most influential players in the squad.

This season alone, the centre-back has made 22 league appearances, contributing four goals in the Ghana Premier League. He also featured four times in the CAF Confederation Cup, scoring once before Kotoko’s campaign ended in the second preliminary round.

Overall, O’Neil has played 56 matches in all competitions for Kotoko, registering five goals and one assist, while cementing his status as a defensive mainstay for the club.
